Wedding, books, and margaritas...

The wedding is less than two weeks away, and I'm both excited and nervous. I'm excited to see my son marry the beautiful (inside and out) girl that he's been with for probably 5 years or so. They both have been blessed with some wonderful things in their lives, and the end of this month they will share those things as husband and wife. I've been busy getting all my stuff together. My dress fitting is on Tuesday, and hopefully it will be ready for me to take home. I went shopping over the weekend to get all the extra things, so I think I'm all set.

My shoes hurt because I've been badly retaining water, so my feet are swollen. These next two weeks I will fight to get rid of all that so that I hopefully will not become crippled from the pain of too-tight shoes. My shoes are so pretty:

My jewelry is probably my favorite part of the whole outfit:

My hair will be styled like this:

Only instead of having that big flower on the side, I will have this:

I also bought a new bra for my dress that has clear straps. My dress was strapless, but it came with optional straps that clip on. The seamstress is sewing them in, though, so I won't have to worry that they will come loose. But I will spare you the bra and Spanx pictures.

I stopped at the Estee Lauder counter to buy new foundation, and she gave me a makeover. I told her I liked dramatic eyes, and the end result looked much like Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. She didn't nab any eye product sales from me, but she did a great job matching me with some foundation and blush. The foundation is the Double Wear and my shade is Desert Beige. I bought the blush she used, but I don't remember that shade. I know it's peach something, and it's shimmery. I bought some new cream eye shadow to try, but for the wedding I think I'm going to stick with the pretty eye shadow that I got from Prescriptives before they went out of business at the stores. I tried it all on today and haven't found anything I like better. That sounds so vain.

After I finished shopping I stopped at Chili's for lunch. I had my first margarita since I left Texas. I rarely have a meal out alone, but I brought my Kindle with me in case I decided to do it, and I sat there and read and relaxed over lunch.

The rest of my weekend has been quiet and relaxing. I should've gotten some housework done, but I just took it easy.

I finished the James Patterson book I was reading, Sail, and now I'm reading Water for Elephants. I was going to go see the movie this weekend, but I would rather finish the book first. I bought another Patterson book, Quickie, for my Kindle and my son got me a Kindle gift certificate, so I'm good for books for a little while.

Speaking of books, I've changed directions and have a completely different topic that I'm writing about. It's exciting to have the topic I chose, and I think it will flow easier than what I was originally going to write.

This week I'm going to get my hair colored and highlighted. It's been a while since I've had it done professionally, but I'm tired of having dried out hair from the over-the-counter stuff. I had about 2 to 2 1/2 inches cut off, and I love the style. I will have it trimmed up a bit when I get my hair colored. When I get my nails done the following week, I would like to take The Girlie for another little girl mani and pedi. She loved it last time I took her, and she's such a prissy little thing with her nail polish.

That's it for now. Time to take my Kindle to bed and read till I fall asleep.
