It has been a busy few days. As soon as I was done with work on Thursday evening I headed to my oldest son's apartment (45 minute drive) and spent the night there, and then we all headed to my daughter's house (1 1/2 hours away) for my granddaughter's 3rd birthday party. It was so sweet seeing how she interacts with her little daycare friends. The first little girl came in and The Girlie hopped down from her chair and ran over to her little friend, big smiles, and handed her a toy. She was the same sweet hostess each time one of her friends arrived. Then came the infamous Aidan. The little daycare boyfriend. The little boy who used to kiss her at the lunch table and with whom she traded shoes. He is not much taller than her, and after he informed his dad that he wanted to sit by Evey, he barreled his way through the crowd of adults and took his place next to her. And there he stayed for the duration of the party :) He got ketchup on her cheek when tried to feed her a french fry, and he wiped it off very gently with a napkin. It was the cutest thing I've seen in very long time. She had a lot of fun and got a lot of nice birthday gifts. The best of the party for me was that I got to take her home with me.
We headed back to my son's place first to get my things I left there. They had a New Year's Eve party to attend near where I live, so they got all dressed up for that and we headed home. We got back at around 8:45 p.m., and the girlie and I played. We were being silly in bed when I realized it was midnight. I told her Happy New Year, and she told me the same. I can't think of a nicer way to bring in the new year. I assumed she would have been sound asleep by then but she was pretty wired! In fact, she was still up when my son and his fiance got home from their party.
We all had a pajama/lazy day on New Year's Day. Youngest son had to work. I threw on some old jeans and a t-shirt, but everybody else had a pajama day. We ordered pizza for dinner, watched TV, played with the girlie, and took it easy. Oldest son and his fiance left late afternoon so it was just The Girlie and me. I had such quality time with her, but she started to feel bad. On Monday Mommy took her to the doctor and she has an ear infection, so she didn't go back to daycare until Thursday. But she was glad to go back, and her little friends were glad to see her back. Now she's on the mend.
And now we're into a new week....
